About us

BULABDS prides itself on being one of the largest societies in the University student union, recruiting over 500 members each year.

The dance classes are taught by professional dance coaches and are designed to be easy-going, giving you plenty of time and opportunity to socialise, have fun, and at the same time learn a usefull skill. Whether you're here for the fun of it, or are really serious about dancing, BULABDS is the right place to be.

Over the past year we have been putting a little more emphasis on Salsa dancing, so you too can enjoy nights out at the many Salsa Nights in town. Having said that, this of course doesn't mean that this is the only dance you will learn as a member of BULABDS, far from it!

The dancing that we offer is separated into two categories: Latin and Modern. Latin dancing comprises of the rather chic, sexy and cheeky dances such as the Cha cha cha, Jive, Samba, Rumba, and the Paso Doble. Modern Dancing is made up of dances usually associated with traditional ballroom dancing: the Waltz, Quickstep, Tango, Foxtrot, and the Viennese Waltz. It is a welcome alternative to the showmanship of Latin, erring instead on the side of grace and elegance. Whichever takes your fancy, you are more than welcome to come to as many of our classes as you please for no extra charge after the initial membership fee.
