|
|
According to the BULABDS webpage (http://www.bulabds.co.uk/social.html) it is every Tuesday but when I came on the demostraton section (8th of Oct.) I think that I have heard that on Tuesday there are lessons for the ones that want to enter the team for competitions and on Thursday there is a lesson for the beginners in latin at 8pm... I am a bit confused since from what I can see the BULABDS webpage has some sections that are 'out of date' and maybe the page I have checked is also one of them... Anyone knows and can help me please? |

First of all, let me try to clarify this:
Social classes are on Tuesdays. These are no-strings-attached classes, no particular commitment asked of you. For the 1st 5 weeks, social classes will be beginners classes, i.e. only some basic routines will be taught. Eventually, once some of you are feeling a little more confident, these Tuesday classes will be expanded to beginners & intermedate levels.
Beginners TEAM classes are for those who have never danced before but would like to have a go at COMPETITIVE dancing. You'll be going to a few inter-varsity competitions (mostly next term), competing against people in the same situation as you - never danced before. To do this you'll be trained by 3 additional teachers, in a smaller class, so will get more attention and learn a little more technique. You will be required to put quite a bit of effort and commitment, as you will be carrying the University name across the country. These classes will be on Mondays (7.30-9.30pm) AND Thursdays (8-10pm). All sounds a little scary but I can guarantee most of you will love it.
Hope that helps! |

So if we have danced before we cannot enter the team, eh!
To tell you the truth that team classes would be interesting but since i'm doing a master degree i don't think i'll manage... (not to say that i'll probably confuse the movements with the cuban-salsa style movements i know.. )
I think i'll go next Tuesday to see what is going on... Thanks a lot for clarifing my question!
Cheers to all! |

Actually, if you've only danced salsa before, you're still a beginner in ballroom / latin dancing. In fact, it doesn't matter if you are a world-champion at freestyle disco or have trained in ballet for 20 years, as long as you have never taken lessons in ballroom / latin (10 dances), then you are still a beginner by that definition. |
